Elzie Allen Farmer
Elzie Allen Farmer, 87, Nevada, MO, passed away on Monday, July 26, 2010 at Christian Health Care in Nevada following a lengthy illness. He was born October 21, 1922 in Bronaugh, MO, to Joseph Harvey Farmer and Viola Dalton Farmer. He was married to Louise Mitts on February 25, 1961 in Liberal, MO, and she survives of the home.
Allen was born and raised in Vernon County and spent most all of his life here. He served in the U. S. Army during WWII in the European Theatre of War. Following the service he worked for a time in California before returning to Vernon County. He worked for many years at Nevada State Hospital, retiring in 1987. His hobby was lawn and grounds care. Allen attended the Pine Street Baptist Church in Nevada. He was loved by his family and that love was returned in full.
Survivors in addition to his wife Louise, include one son, Stan Farmer, Jefferson City, MO; one daughter, Sherry Steward, Nevada, MO; six grandchildren, and one sister, Marie Roby, El Dorado Springs, MO.
Funeral services will be held at 1:30 p.m. on Friday, July 30, 2010 at Ferry Funeral Home, Nevada, MO, with Rev. Robert Burk officiating. Interment will follow in Howell Cemetery, Milford, MO.
Friends may call now and until the hour of service and the family receives friends Thursday evening, July 29, 2010 from 7-8:00 p.m. at the funeral home.
