Cynthia Caviness Obituary

Cynthia Louise Caviness, 55, formerly of Nevada, MO went home to be with her Lord and Savior on Tuesday, October 27, 2020 in Joplin, MO. Cynthia, lovingly known as Cindy, was born on November 29, 1964 to WJ and Ruby Pauline Newton in Nevada, MO. She married Dennis Caviness on July 3rd of 1991. During this union they raised Cindy’s children, Loucinda and Douglas, together.

Cindy spent her younger years in the Metz and Walker areas. She spent her life doing what she loved the most, cooking, until she became disabled in 2006. Cindy spent many years sewing for those she loved. She was a member of the Fraternal Order of Eagles where she held the office of Madam President, Past Madam President, and other various offices with love and devotion.

Left to celebrate Cynthia’s life is her son, Doug (Nickie) Starbuck, Joplin, MO; daughter, Samantha Stringfellow, St. Joseph, MO; and son, Dewayne Davis, Fort Madison, IA; grandchildren, Kendall, Kristofer, Kassandra, Cynthia, McCayla, Austin, Tyler, Ethan, Nick, Rachel, Dalton, Grant, William, TeArra, and Appachey; great-grandchildren, Lukah, Maxeen, Treyton, Braelyn, Autumn, Trenton and Phillip; sister, Cathy Beisley (Roy Collins), Nevada, MO; brother, Ronald Newton (Sharon), Nevada, MO; niece and nephews, Ashley, Travis, and Mike; son and daughter in her heart, Mike and Delena Grant; numerous other valued loved ones; nana Cindy to too many to count; and a close friend, Lana Olsen. In addition to her husband Dennis, she is preceded in death by her parents; daughter, Loucinda; great grandson Caysin; brothers, Bill and Jack; sister, Donna; and a close friend, Linda Matlock. Memorial services will be held at 2:00 p.m. on Tuesday, November 3, 2020 at Ferry Funeral Home in Nevada with Kevin Black officiating.
