Dean David Valentine, 82, Nevada, MO passed away on Sunday, November 24, 2019 at Moore-Few Care Center in Nevada, Missouri.
Dean was born on March 18, 1937 in Dover, Ohio to Donald and Edna Valentine. He had five brothers including his twin brother, Gene who passed exactly 10 years before Dean. He grew up in Alliance, Ohio and graduated from Alliance High School in 1955 and Mount Union College in 1961.
After meeting when both were working at a grocery store, Dean married Diane Marie Twark in Alliance on October 26, 1963. They started a family, having three children; Dana, David and Douglas.
Dean started his career at General Motors in Cuyahoga Falls, Ohio. He later worked for Deming Pump in Salem, Ohio and then transferred to Crane Company in Rogers, Arkansas. In 1979, he transferred to Nevada, Missouri and retired from Crane Plumbing in 2000.
Dean loved life, especially spending time with his family, playing golf, traveling, enjoying the Lake and soaking up the Florida sunshine. He was always the most photogenic in any group, never taking a bad picture with that great smile! Dean was a member of St. Mary’s Parish and the Knights of Columbus.
In addition to Diane, his devoted wife of 56 years, Dean is survived by their three children, Dana Bray, Nevada, David Valentine (Sandy), Fenton, MO, and Douglas Valentine, North Glenn, CO; four grandchildren, Chris Bray (Bekka), Michael Bray (Michele), Emily Valentine, and Matthew Valentine; four great grandchildren, Brianna, Henry, William, and Lily; brother, Regis, Old Greenwich, CT; and several sisters-in-law, brothers-in-law, nieces and nephews. He was preceded in death by his parents and brothers, Donald, Jerry, Gene, and Kenny.
Mass of Christian Burial will be held at 10:00 a.m. on Saturday, November 30, 2019 at St. Mary’s Catholic Church in Nevada with Father Peter Savidge officiating. Interment will follow in Mt. Calvary Cemetery in Nevada. Rosary will be held at 6:00 p.m. on Friday evening, November 29, 2019 with visitation following from 6:30 to 7:30 p.m. at Ferry Funeral Home in Nevada.
