Elizabeth (Kirby) Hiatt

     Vera Elizabeth Hiatt, 91, Nevada, MO passed away on Sunday, May 19, 2019 at Moore-Few Care Center in Nevada.

     Elizabeth was born March 2, 1928 in Ozark, AR to Elbert Roy and Delores (Mantooth) Kirby. She lived and worked in Kansas City, MO at Skelly Oil Company. She then moved to Iowa City, IA to work at the University of Iowa Psychiatric Hospital.  After moving back to Nevada, MO she worked at the Nevada State Hospital, West Central Missouri, was a Security Guard at Cottey College, and several in-home care jobs. Elizabeth loved the outdoors, camping, her cats, traveling, and most of all her Lord.

    Survivors include one son, Mark Race and his wife Twana, Independence, MO; one daughter, April Race, Nevada; three grandchildren, Amy Heller, Milo, Ryan Race, Burlington, IA, and Chris Race, Nevada, MO; six great-grandchildren; and one sister, Alma Bean of Tulsa, OK; extended family and friends. She was preceded in death by her parents; and one son Bruce Eilers, sisters, Lois, and Thelma; brothers, Clarence, and Warren.

     Funeral services will be held at 11:00 a.m. on Friday, May 24, 2019 at Milo Baptist Church in Milo, MO with Pastor Jim Davis officiating.  The family will receive friends from 5-7:00 on Thursday evening at Ferry Funeral Home in Nevada.
