Elizabeth Joann Laning

         Elizabeth "Joann" Laning, 70, of Nevada, Missouri passed away on Wednesday, June 5, 2019 at Medicalodges in Nevada.  Elizabeth was born May 1, 1949 to Adolph James and Grace Lavern (Howard) Soukup.

    Joann grew up in Nevada and graduated from Nevada High School Class of 1968. She worked as a beautician in Nevada for most of her life. Joann attended the First Baptist Church in Rich Hill. She also loved to cook, watch movies, and had a genuine love for animals. Joann enjoyed the time she spent with her children, grandchildren, and family, and especially cherished the time she shared with her sister Frances Lammers.

     Survivors include two children; James Kiger (Becky) of Rich Hill, Missouri, and Candice Laning (Chris) of Nevada, Missouri; grandchildren Nicholas Kiger, Blake Kiger, and Brandon Patrick; two brothers, Stanley Soukup of Nevada, Missouri and Donald Soukup of Nevada, Missouri; as well as several other relatives and friends. She was preceded in death by her parents, and one sister, Frances Lammers.

    Graveside services will be held on Saturday, June 8th, at 1:30 p.m. at Moore Cemetery. Friends may call from now and until noon on Saturday at Ferry Funeral Home in Nevada.
