Juanita E. Crane

     Juanita E. Crane, 90, formerly of Nevada, MO, passed away on Friday, November 8, 2013, at St. Luke’s Nursing Center in Carthage, MO following a brief illness.  She was born on December 11, 1922 in WaKeeney, KS to Guy O McEldowney and Ethel Grace Tinsley McEldowney.  She married Thomas Crane on October 8, 1969 in Nevada, MO and he preceded her in death on November 19, 1995.

     Juanita was raised in Joplin, MO and attended school there.  She worked as an LPN and also taught at the Nevada State Hospital for 30 years until her retirement.  She has lived in Carthage for the past 18 years to be near her family and was a member of the Fairview Christian Church in Carthage.

     Survivors include one daughter, Nellie Holzwarth and her husband Chet, Carthage, MO; four grandchildren, Randy Holzwarth and his wife Cathy, Carthage, Rhonda Craig and her husband Mike, Carthage, Cindy Diggs and her husband Rex, Carthage, and Christina Crouse, Plano, TX; 11 great-grandchildren and 12 great-great-grandchildren; numerous nieces and nephews.   She is preceded in death by her husband, parents, five brothers and one sister.

     Graveside services will be held at 11:00 a.m. on Monday, November 11, 2013 at Oak Hill Cemetery, Carthage.  Funeral arrangements are under the direction of Ferry Funeral Home, Nevada, MO.  Friends may call from 12:00-7:00 p.m. on Sunday, November 10, 2013 at the funeral home.
