Kenneth Howard James

     Kenneth Howard James, 94, Nevada, MO passed away on November 16, 2019 at Mercy Hospital in Joplin, MO.  He was born February 4, 1925 in Tomah, Wisconsin to Phillip and Alice (Belcher) James.

     Known to his family as Ken or Howard, he grew up in Wisconsin and graduated from Tomah High School. A few years later he entered the United States Army during WWII and served in the Occupation of Japan.  Following his discharge from the service, Ken went home to Tomah.  He then reenlisted in the Army and served during the Korean War.  On October 11, 1952 he married Dolores Lee and to this union five children were born. Ken loved to sing, gardening, and traveling.

     He is survived by one daughter, Debbie McIntire and her husband Chuck, Moundville, MO; three sons, Dennis James, Sugar Creek, MO, David James and his wife Mary, Independence, MO, Doyle James and his wife Jackie, Louisville, KY; six grandchildren, Chuckie, Shaun, Gary Lee, Christopher, Devin, Michelle; and 13 great-grandchildren; .his brother, Marlyn and his wife Charlene, Edwardsville, IL; one sister, Lois Bartels and her husband Garlie, E. Alton, IL;

     He was preceded in death by his wife, Dolores; daughter, Diane; grandson, Phillip; his parents; brother, Bill James; and sister, Marita Fleek.

       Private family services will be held at a later time. Arrangements are under the direction of Ferry Funeral Home in Nevada.
