Ralph Burton Borgelt

January 21, 1931 ~ November 21, 2018 (age 87)

     Ralph Burton Borgelt, 87, formerly of Metz, MO passed away on Wednesday, November 21, 2018 at Moran Manor Nursing Facility in Moran, KS.   He was born January 21, 1931 in Toledo, OH to Ralph Burton Borgelt, Sr. and Retha Gard.  Ralph was united in marriage to Mary Elizabeth Calvert on December 23, 1950 in Vernon, TX.

     Ralph grew up in Toledo and attended school there. He and Mary met in Fort Sill, OK when he was serving in the National Guard. Ralph and Mary lived in Duncan, OK, Denison, TX, and Toledo, OH before moving to Metz in 1988 to be near family.

     Ralph worked at a variety of jobs mostly related to law enforcement and security services, with over 40 years combined service from patrolman to Captain and as Training Director with Pinkerton and Continental Security Services.  In later years he served with the Vernon County Sheriff’s Department. Ralph was a member of the Trinity Lutheran Church in Nevada for 27 years.  He enjoyed horseback riding, fishing, and football.

     Survivors include one son, William Henry Borgelt and his wife Sue of McAlester, OK; five grandchildren; 12 great-grandchildren; one sister, Retha Arlene Borden of Temperance, MI. He was preceded in death by his wife; his parents; and one daughter.

     Funeral services will be held at 11:00 a.m. on Saturday, November 24, 2018 at Ferry Funeral Home in Nevada with Pastor Johannes Brann officiating.  Interment will follow in Pryor Creek Cemetery in Metz.  The family will receive friends from 10:00 a.m. on Saturday until service time at the funeral home.

     Memorials are suggested to the Trinity Lutheran Church in c/o Ferry Funeral Home.
