Arlene Buck

      Neva Arlene Buck, 97, passed away on Saturday, May 6, 2023 at her home in Richards, MO. Arlene was born March 10, 1926 in El Dorado Springs, MO to Stanley “Quay” and Dessie M. (Pace) Phipps. She was united in marriage to Clyde “Junior” Buck on August 27, 1949 in Kansas City, MO and he preceded her in death on July 14, 2004.

     Arlene was raised in Vernon County and graduated from Nevada High School in 1943. Following high school, she moved to Kansas City where she was reacquainted with Junior Buck whom she had known during her school years. In 1969 she came back to Nevada and later began working at the Nevada City Hospital in 1973, where she worked in the Hospital Lab Department until her retirement in 2003 at the age of 77.  Arlene loved gardening and flowers, riding on the gator, her dogs, and most of all loved her family.

    Surviving Arlene are her two children, Lee Anne Berryman of Kansas City, MO and Debbie Gibbs of Eldorado Springs, MO, six grandchildren, Mark Berryman (Paula), Lathrop, MO, Lisa Wilson (Rodney), Smithville, MO, Kirk Buck (Kim), Nevada, MO, Kristi Nowak (Dale), Montgomery, TX, Ryan Buck, Richards, and Hayden Buck (Caitlin), Richards, fourteen great grandchildren, and 5 great, great grandchildren.  She was preceded in death by her husband, Junior, her son, Mike Buck, a sister Norma Sayre, two sons-in-law, Wayne Gibbs and David Berryman, and a great, great grandson, Maxwell Sleightholm.

     Funeral services for Arlene will be held at 2:00 p.m. on Friday May 12, 2023 at Ferry Funeral Home in Nevada with Pastor Roger Beach officiating.  Interment will follow in Newton Burial Park.  The family will receive friends from 1-2:00 pm prior to the service.   Those who wish may contribute in Arlene’s memory to the Nevada Regional Medical Center Foundation or to the Charity of the donor’s choice.
