Barnett "Barney" Helm

    Barnett (Barney) Ellis Helm, 99, Deerfield, MO, passed away at his home on Wednesday, November 20, 2024.   He was born on April 14, 1925, in his grandfather’s home near El Dorado Springs, MO.   

    Barney was raised in the Harwood area and graduated from El Dorado Springs High School.  He worked for 35 years as an accountant/controller for Key Work Clothes Industries in Ft. Scott, KS until his retirement.  He spent from 1966 until his demise at his ranch in Coal Township near Deerfield, MO raising cattle.

    Barney left this life in the early morning hours of this 20th day of November, 2024, at his home, looking forward to joining his parents, Thomas and Elizabeth; brothers, Eugene and Braxton; and maybe just a few cattle.

    Many friends and neighbors have had the enjoyment and privilege of knowing a really true Gentleman.

     Private graveside services with interment in the El Dorado Springs City Cemetery are planned.    Friends may call from 9:00a.m.- 5:00p.m. on Monday, November 25, 2024 at Ferry Funeral Home, Nevada, MO.
