Benjamin Leo "Sonny" Carpenter

     Benjamin Leo “Sonny” Carpenter, 51, Pittsburg, KS passed away on Thursday, February 6, 2020.  Sonny was born June 7, 1968 in Arkadelphia, AR to Albert Leo and Shirley (Weddell) Carpenter. He married Christina Heckadon and to this union three children were born.

     Sonny graduated from Butler High School in 1986. He loved hunting, fishing, listening to music, cooking, and especially spending time with family. He was a jokester, and he enjoyed going on outings to the casino with his mother. Sonny was a very spiritual person who walked to the beat of his own drum. He was fondly known by his close friends and family as Sundance and Sundog.

     He is survived by one son, Justin Carpenter (Vanessa), Baytown, TX; two daughters, Melony Harding, Butler, MO, and Valery Carpenter, Gravois Mills, MO; grandchildren Koby Lee Carpenter, Marijane Marie Harding, Brandon Michael Lutjen, Jr., Payton Nicole Lutjen; ; step-grandchildren, Brandon Emmanuel Carpenter, Chrystal Carolina Carpenter, Destiny Lutjen, Jayna Lutjen, Raylynn Lutjen, and Zachary Harding; mother, Shirley Wymore, Nevada; four sisters, Beverly Carpenter, Gallatin, MO, Norma Jean Bledsoe, El Dorado Springs, MO, Sandy Corwine, Amsterdam, MO, and Frances Carpenter, Butler, MO; nieces, nephews, extended family, and a host of special friends.

  Memorial services will be held at a later time. “Wakan Takan kici un” (God Bless You).
