Our loss and Heaven’s gain, Charlotte Baxter, 84, left life on this earth Thursday, February 11, 2021, for a brand new life. She left her wheelchair and braces to run into Heaven to meet the Lord and to be reunited with her husband, Raymond Duane. Charlotte was born August 23, 1936, and married Raymond Duane Baxter on June 13, 1953.
They had three daughters, Patricia McGowan (Dale) Adrian, MO; Beverly Clisso, Harrisonville, MO; and Shirley Eiserer, Nevada, MO. They also welcomed many other children into their home that they loved and considered as their own. Among them were Dawn Dowty, Wanda Benenhaley, and Vernon Stipp. She also leaves behind a very special sister-in-law, Donna Guggisberg, Clever, MO, and many grandchildren and great grandchildren whom she adored. Her world revolved around her family.
She was a very loving and nurturing wife, mother, and grandmother and was always ready to help whoever needed it. Charlotte may not have always agreed with Duane’s crazy ideas, but she was always supportive of him. She loved to bake banana cakes for the grandchildren and German Chocolate pie for the daughters. She could also make the best sweet tea. Charlotte was a beautiful seamstress making clothing for her girls and also teaching them to sew. Later she became interested in quilting, especially wanting to use the latest sewing techniques and gadgets. She always wanted to make sure each grandchild had a quilt at birth and graduation. She had a special love for little children and could always be found serving in the church nursery.
She could not pass up a yard sale or thrift store. Her thought was “they might have something that she needed or that someone could use.”
Preceding her in death are her parents, Claude Garver and Nellie Garver West; a sister, Mary Ellen; Wanda Benenhaley; son-in-law, Mike Eiserer; and brother-in-law, Fred Guggisberg.
Funeral services will be held at 10:00 a.m. on Friday, February 19, 2021 at Ferry Funeral Home in Nevada with Pastor Harold Hicks officiating. Interment will follow in Newton Burial Park. Friends may call now and until the hour of service at Ferry Funeral Home.
