Clay Stephen Landoll

      Clay Stephen Landoll, 19, Nevada, MO passed away on Sunday, October 20, 2019 in Rolla, MO. Clay was born February 13, 2000 in Nevada to Eric M. and Angela L. (Huber) Landoll.

     Clay grew up in Nevada, Missouri, the middle of three children.  During his youth, Clay participated in Tiger Pit Youth Wrestling, Nevada Youth Recreational Baseball, 4-H Shooting Sports, and Nevada Neptunes Swim Team.

     At Nevada High School, Clay was involved in the Crimson Sound Marching Band.  He played trumpet, served as section leader, and spent two years as Drum Major.  Senior year, he also performed with Winter Winds and played in the Pit Band for the Soundsational Singers Show Choir. 

     Clay participated in several sports during his high school years: wrestling, baseball, cross country, and track. His love of sports also led to his involvement with the Ping Pong Club at NHS.   

     He also served in Nevada High School Student Council all four years, serving as class Vice President his senior year.  Additionally, he was a Youth Empowerment Services (YES) member throughout high school.  

     Clay was a member of the NHS National Honor Society and National Technical Honor Society.  

     Clay attended Missouri Scholars Academy at Mizzou the summer of 2016.  There he met his future roommate at Missouri S&T.  

     Clay attended the 2017 session of The American Legion Boys State of Missouri as a representative of Nevada High School.  During his week at Boys State, he was a citizen of Blair City. He attended the Missouri Boys State Law School, became an Attorney, and was elected as the Blair City Municipal Judge. He was also on the ballot for Attorney General representing the Nationalist Party.  In addition, Clay served as as the Community Service Volunteer representing Blair City at a retirement home in Warrensburg, Missouri during the week of the program.

     During his senior year, Clay participated in two theatrical productions at NHS.  He was excited to be in the spring play with his brother Carter. He also served as a model during Catwalk for a Cure and represented Nevada High School Student Council during the Male Handsome Pageant, where he played “Wish You Were Here” by Pink Floyd on the guitar.

     Clay graduated from Nevada High School in May 2018. Following graduation, Clay was selected from a group of 1000 citizens to return to Missouri Boys State as a member of their staff. During the 2018 and 2019 sessions, Clay served as an Assistant City Counselor mentoring the next generation of Missouri leaders. In 2018, he was also awarded the Staff Scholarship based on his many achievements and dedication to the program.

     During the summer of 2018 Clay also worked as an umpire for Nevada Youth Recreational Baseball.  

     He then enrolled at Missouri University of Science and Technology in Rolla as an honors student.  He pledged Sigma Chi Fraternity, Theta Eta chapter during the fall of 2018, and has represented Sigma Chi through the Interfraternity Council.  Clay was pursuing a degree in Metallurgical Engineering. He was part of the Steel Bridge Design Team. Clay served as a PRO Leader and worked with the summer crew on Fall 2019 Orientation.  He also represented the University as Joe Miner, the Missouri S&T mascot, a role that allowed him to interact with young people and express his outgoing personality.

    He is survived by his mother, Angie, one sister, Abbie, and one brother, Carter, all of the home; grandparents, Merle and Carole Huber, Pittsburg, MO; aunt Amy and Brad Diehl, Butler, MO; uncle, Todd Huber, Soratoga Springs, UT; cousins, Addison Huber, Paige and Jordan Switzer, Cooper Diehl, Andrew Diehl; his many friends and fraternity brothers at Sigma Chi Fraternity at Missouri University of Science and Technology in Rolla. He was preceded in death by his father, Eric; grandparents, Gerald Landoll and Virginia (Landoll) Zilliox; and step-grandfather, Gene Zilliox.

     Funeral services will be held at 11:00 a.m. on Friday, October 25, 2019 at the United Methodist Church in Nevada with Rev. Sharon Freeman officiating.  The family will receive friends from 5-7:00 p.m. on Thursday, October 24, 2019 at Ferry Funeral Home in Nevada.
