David Truman Armstrong

David Truman Armstrong, 52, of Baraboo, Wisconsin passed away on May 20, 2024. David was born in Birmingham, Alabama on September 3, 1971. A former 82nd Division Army Ranger and a staunch advocate for learning, David earned both Bachelor’s and Master’s Degrees from the University of South Florida and it was there he joined Delta Sigma Pi. He became a respected Administrator in Higher Education, beginning as the Director of Student Government Business Services for the University of South Florida, then as Assistant Dean for the University of Wisconsin Baraboo/Sauk County (Boo-U), as well as serving as Vice President of Finance and Operations at the South Central College, Minnesota. He helped thousands of young people achieve their dreams through higher education. After leaving higher education David purchased Con Amici Craft Bar, and with his business partner Nellie Schmitz, he co-captained a vibrant community watering hole. In 2022 he took to the open road, touring the United States in his camper with his dog Birmy by his side.

Growing up in Birmingham, Alabama, David was a Championship off-road motorbike racer. A Ragnar athlete, he enjoyed fishing, boating, scuba, camping, golf, and tennis. That man loved being on the water and shared that love (and his boat) with his many friends. His body may have failed him, but he filled the days he was given. David will be remembered, missed, and loved by many people.

A celebration of his life will be held June 23, 2024, 11-1 PM at UW Platteville Baraboo Sauk County in the Jenny Eddy Room of the Umhoefer Building, 1006 Connie Road, Baraboo WI 53913. Dress is beach casual.

A memorial Trivia Game will be held July 20, 2024, 7-9 PM at Con Amici Craft Bar 126 3rd St, Baraboo WI 53913. Hawaiian shirts are encouraged.
