Dennis Charles Hyder

        Dennis Charles Hyder, 74, Nevada, MO passed away on Tuesday, April 25, 2023 at Kansas University Medical Center in Kansas City, KS. Dennis was born May 21, 1948 in Petaluma, CA, the son of Virgil Lee and Retta Mae (Rowland) Hyder. He married Elizabeth Nadine Clawson on May 20, 1967 in Nevada.

     In December of 1966, Dennis joined the United States Army and served in Germany. Dennis was a painter for over 40 years, retiring in 2011. He spent the last 12 years driving a bus for Nevada R-5 School District. He enjoyed painting, and puzzles, but most of all he enjoyed time with his family and playing with the grandkids and great grandkids.

     Survivors include his wife, Nadine, of fifty-five years; his children, Tim Hyder (Stephanie) of Hume, MO, Tammy Hays (Andy), Tracy Shumaker (John) and Travis Hyder, all of Nevada; two brothers, Dan Hyder (Cathy), and Duane Hyder (Barbara) of Springfield, MO; five sisters, Susie Clawson (Delbert) of Joplin, MO, Maggie Grissom of Liberal, MO, Peggy Dunfield of Jasper, MO, Winona Hyder, and Stephanie Siebert, both of Lamar, MO; and 13 grandchildren and 15 great grandchildren. He was preceded in death by his parents, Virgil Lee and Retta Mae Hyder; and a brother, Virgil Eugene Hyder.

     Graveside services will be held at 10:00 a.m. on Saturday, April 29, 2023 at Antioch Cemetery in Nevada. The family will receive friends from 6-7:00 p.m. on Friday evening at Ferry Funeral Home in Nevada.
