Denzail Cunningham

    Denzail Grace Cunningham, 82, Nevada, MO, passed away peacefully on Wednesday, September 14, 2022, at Santa Marta in Olathe, KS.   Denzail was born in Schell City, MO, on September 16, 1939, to Otto Marion “Pete” Peterson and Rosalie Grace Peterson.   In 1968, she was married to Roy Cunningham and they celebrated their 54th wedding anniversary this year.

    Denzail loved cooking for her family, studying recipes, and collecting cookbooks from all over.  She was a Christian and a member of the United Methodist Church in Nevada.  She volunteered for Meals on Wheels and was a member of the Domestic Science Club.  She enjoyed playing bridge, reading, and spending time with her grandchildren.

    Denzail is survived by her husband, Roy Cunningham, Nevada, MO; daughters, Melissa Hinck (James), Roylene Cunningham, and Mary Beth Claypool (Brandon); grandchildren, Jason Cunningham (Leslie), Andrew Hinck (Cameron), Nicholas Hinck (Sydney), Angela Hinck, Garrett Claypool, and Emma Grace Claypool; great-grandchildren, Mila Hinck and Dalton Cunningham.   Denzail was preceded in death by her parents, Pete and Rosalie; brother, James Peterson; and son, Gregory Cunningham.

     Funeral services will be held at 1:30p.m. on Monday, September 19, 2022 at Ferry Funeral Home, Nevada, with Pastor Doug Reynolds officiating.  Interment will follow in Newton Burial Park.  The family will receive friends from 3:00-4:00 pm on Sunday, September 18, 2022, at Ferry Funeral Home.  Memorials to the United Methodist Women, Nevada, MO, are suggested and may be made in c/o Ferry Funeral Home.
