Dezlie Nimmo Obituary

    Dezlie Yolande Nimmo, age 69, Nevada, MO passed away on Monday, March 24, 2025, at University of Kansas Medical Center in Kansas City, KS.  Dezlie was born September 28, 1955, in San Diego, CA to Rudolph and Beulah (Rodgers) Weiss.   She was married to Joe Bill Nimmo on June 12, 2009, in Nevada, MO and he survives of the home.

    Dezlie was raised in the San Diego area and graduated high school there.  After moving around the country with her 3 girls, she found her home here in Nevada, MO.   She graduated from Pittsburg State University with a degree in social work.  She worked at Bristol Manor & Joe Clark’s in Nevada for 5 years, as well as Challenge & Change for 3 years.  Dezlie then worked in the Nevada Regional Medical Center Behavior Health Unit for 5 ½ years until her retirement in 2015.  She loved being a caregiver and helping others.

    Dezlie was a proud member of the First Presbyterian Church where she took an active role when the opportunities arose.  Her favorite pastimes were knitting, crocheting, cross-stitch, scrapbooking, and sewing; she enjoyed all craft projects.

    In addition to her husband, Joe, she is survived by 3 daughters, Brandi Fitzgerald, Cincinnati, OH, Lenna Woods (Matt), Tuscumbia, AL, and Stephanie Weiss-Busse, Holiday Island, AR; Brandi’s son, Matthew; Lenna’s daughter, Abigaile; and Stephanie’s children, Alaina, Michael Jr. and Zyler; 2 sisters, Ellen Tavares, Golden, CO, and Stephanie Rodgers, Buffalo, NY; several nieces and nephews; her best friend of 63 years, Alaina King, state of Idaho; and her beloved dog, Cocoa Chanel, who was her pride and joy.   She was preceded in death by her parents.

     A memorial service will be announced at a later date.
