On Thursday, July 16, 2020, our family lost their hero unexpectedly. Donald Francisco Herman passed away approximately 1 am after declining health. He was a strong, simple man who loved and accepted everyone, was devoted to his family, and who embraced life with open arms.
Donald was born July 7, 1956 in Wichita, Kansas to Donald M. and Angie (Nunez) Herman and was a long-term resident of Nevada, MO. Recently he went to live with his family in Springfield, MO. After he graduated from high school, he held many labor jobs in Washington where he met the love of his life and his wife, Karen Anne Lancaster Herman, of twenty-one years before her passing. He was a custodian for Nevada Schools and a maintenance worker for the Nevada Housing Authority.
He is preceded in death by his mother, Marie, his wife, Karen, and his oldest daughter Amy Dawn. He is survived by his daughter Darcy Herman, his sisters Donna, Janet, Carla, and Ginger and their families, and his extended family in Springfield, the Harden's, Miller's, Thomas', and Presley's. He was a wonderful brother, father, grandfather, and friend. He is loved and missed so much but will live on in our hearts forever.
A memorial for Donald will be held on Wednesday, July 22 at 2pm at Ferry Funeral Home, 301 S Washington, Nevada, MO. Friends, family, and members of the community are invited to come celebrate his life.
