Edith Yvonne Davisson, 86, passed away peacefully at her home surrounded by family on Sunday, May 3, 2026, in Sheldon, MO. Edith was brought into this world on May 4th, 1939, on the farm outside of Fairfield, IA, the daughter of Dorothy and Ernest Spray, and the granddaughter of Ethel M. Nelson. She was preceded in death by two brothers, and two sisters whom she loved dearly.
Edith moved to the Vernon County area in 1963. She began working as a seamstress at Nelly Don, then moved on to the Key Factory for 15 years, she then worked at the State Hospital where she became an LPN during her 15-year tenure, followed by her proprietorship in the Sheldon Mini Mart. Later in her twilight years, she served her community as a rural mail carrier.
Survivors include two children: her daughter and caregiver, Dorothy Bogart, and a son, Kirk Davisson; five grandchildren, Lisa, Jeremy, Amber, Ashley, and Tiffany, along with their significant others and children.
Edith was a proud mother, aunt, grandmother, and great-grandmother who took every opportunity to take part in their lives and activities, offering support and love at every turn with her presence. She was known for her extensive gardens and green thumb, specializing in irises. Edith’s hobbies were quite important to her, whether it was her prolific capability for reading or going to a coin show with her great-granddaughter. Puzzles, cards, hook rugs, and nurturing her seeds, she was always busy with an activity.
She will be interred at Tolson Cemetery with a Celebration of Life to be determined at a later date. In lieu of sending flowers, please grow a plant in her memory.
