Elda “Slim” Turner, 89, passed away at his home in Nevada, MO on Friday, May 27, 2022. Slim was born on November 23, 1932 in Stockton, MO to Elmer Lee and Sarah Francis (Fisher) Turner. He married Jimmy Ann Kanupp on January 8, 1996 in Las Vegas, NV and she preceded him in death on August 30, 2021.
Slim was raised in Stockton and graduated from Stockton High School Class of 1950. He served in the U. S. Air Force from February 6, 1953 to December 1, 1954 during the Korean War. Slim came back to Nevada and worked as a plumber at the Nevada State Hospital for 25 years until his retirement in 1978.
Survivors include his son, Terry Turner (Lorraine); his daughter, Brenda Kerr (Robert), Nevada; eight grandchildren, four great-grandchildren and five great-great-grandchildren; and numerous nieces and nephews. In addition to his wife, Jimmy Ann, he was preceded in death by his parents, his son, Jeffrey Scott Turner; and four brothers and five sisters.
Funeral services will be held at 10:00 a.m. on Wednesday, June 1, 2022 at Ferry Funeral Home in Nevada with Megan Allen officiating. Interment with military honors will follow National Cemetery, Ft. Scott, KS at 12:30 p.m. The family will receive friends from 9-10:00 a.m. prior to the service at the funeral home.
