Ella Mae Horn

  Ella Mae Horn, 96, Nevada, passed away on Friday, September 19, 2025, at Joe Clark Residential Care, Nevada, MO.    Ella was born on June 19, 1929, in Bethany, MO, to Ivan and Oreana (Criger) Gentry.  She married Charles H. Horn in St. Joseph, MO.  He preceded her in death in 2001.

    Ella was born in Bethany, MO and grew up in Buchanan County, MO.  She attended school in St. Joseph, MO.  Ella lived in Southern California for a number of years, where she worked as a seamstress at a clothing factory.  In the winter of 1975, Charles and Ella came to the Milo area.   They started Dia Largo Restaurant in Nevada in 1980 which they operated for several years.  Ella loved gardening, collecting things, and being a homemaker.

     Ella is survived by three children, Martin Horn (Pat), Milo, MO, Cindy Merrill (Kent), Springfield, MO, and Tammy Skahan (Tom), Noel, MO; numerous grandchildren, great-grandchildren, and great-great-grandchildren; brother, John Gentry, Belleview, IL; sister, Margaret Wolfe, St. Joseph, MO; as well as numerous nieces and nephews.     In addition to her husband, Charles, she was preceded in death by a son, Robert Horn; and three sisters, Dixie Barbosa, Izola Winsworth, and Lois Lyons.
