Basil Eugene Mark, 95, Sheldon, MO, passed away on Saturday, April 11, 2026, at his home in Sheldon. Gene was born November 19, 1930, in Santa Ana, CA, to William Basil Mark and Wyomia Marriott. He married Roberta Knight on August 10, 1952, in Montevallo, MO and she preceded him in death on March 31, 2024.
Following high school, Gene spent four years in the US Navy as a mine assembler in the Korean War, stationed at Yorktown, VA, and New London, CT. He attended Central Institute in Kansas City, MO, and worked on televisions. He also worked on the building of Stockton Dam. Gene worked at 3M Nevada for 22 years before retiring.
Gene leaves behind two sons, Mike Mark (Pam), and Tim Mark (Jeanne), both of Sheldon, MO; four grandchildren, Patty Mark, Stephanie Smith (Lee), Scott Mark (Adrienne), and Savana Ayers; seven great-grandchildren, Cole Smith, Carlee Smith, Cammie Smith, Sutton Mark, Campbell Mark, Taylor Ayers, and Jordan Ayers; a brother, Paul Mark (Kaye) of Springfield, MO; and several nieces and nephews. In addition to his wife Roberta, he is preceded in death by his parents; a sister, Marcellene Mark; a brother, Ronald Mark; and a grandson.
Graveside services with Military Funeral Honors will be held at 10:00 a.m. on Monday, April 20, 2026, at Olive Branch Cemetery in Milo, MO with Ray Dean Scism officiating.
