George James "Jimmy" Wilson

     George James “Jimmy” Wilson, 86, Richards, MO passed away on Wednesday, July 15, 2020 at his home in Richards. Jimmy was born April 25, 1934 in Livingstone, Zambia, Africa to George H. and Elizabeth A. (McGarry) Wilson. He was united in marriage to Mary Anne (Squires) Haigh on October 24, 1987 in Harare, Zimbabwe, Africa, and she survives of the home.

     Jimmy worked as project manager in the mining business in Africa most of his life. Following his retirement, he continued to work in the Electrical Contracting Business for his stepson in Zimbabwe, Africa. Jimmy came to the United States in 2008 and made his home in Vernon County. He was especially proud of the fact that he became a United States citizen in April of 2019.

     In addition to his wife Mary Anne, he is survived by a son, Roland Wilson, Bulawayo, Zimbabwe; step-children, Gareth Haigh (Lisa), Perth, Australia, Jennifer Purchase (Robert), Richards, MO, and Darrell Haigh (Laurie), Ontario, Canada; 14 grandchildren; two great-grandchildren; numerous nieces and nephews. He was preceded in death by his parents; a daughter, Ashley (Wilson) Van Gent; one brother and four sisters.

     Memorial services will be held at 11:00 a.m. on Monday, July 20, 2020 at Ferry Funeral Home in Nevada. Private committal will follow.

     Memorials are suggested in his memory to Hospice Compassus in Lamar, MO c/o Ferry Funeral Home.
