Jerry Riggs, 76, of Nevada, MO passed away on Wednesday, January 22, 2025, at Nevada Regional Medical Center. Jerry was born on June 29, 1948, in Nevada, MO to Herbert & Betty (Overton) Riggs, Jr. He married Francine Nichols on April 21, 1989, in Nevada.
Jerry was raised in Nevada and graduated from Nevada High School in 1966. He attended Southwest Missouri State University in Springfield. Jerry was an Airborne Paratrooper in the U.S. Army, stationed in different areas of Europe during his military service. After his time in the military, Jerry worked many years in the construction industry. He was a member the Elks, American Legion and enjoyed going to Duck Lake. His favorite hobby was competing in fishing tournaments.
Jerry is survived by his children, John Murphy (Megan), Nevada, MO, and Shea Moore (Brandon), Richards, MO; 7 grandchildren, Jeremiah, Madison, Jamin, and Jaxson Murphy, and Gabriel, Natalie, and Camden Moore; his mother-in-law, Rosetta Nichols, Nevada, MO; and a sister, Brenda Hoselton (Herman), Nevada, MO. In addition to his wife, Francine, Jerry was preceded in death by his parents, Junior and Betty Riggs; and father-in-law, Lester Nichols.
Memorial services with military honors will be at 10:00 a.m. on Friday, Jan. 31, 2025, at Ferry Funeral Home in Nevada with Pastor Ray Adams officiating.
