Gladys Maxine Halcomb, 95, Nevada, MO passed away on Friday, May 16, 2025, at Moore-Few Care Center in Nevada. Maxine was born August 29, 1929, in Vernon County, MO to Charles Prince and Alta Marie (Mowry) Scott. She was united in marriage to Thomas Eugene Halcomb on February 18, 1951, in Nevada and he preceded her in death on February 19, 1999.
Maxine grew up in the Milo area. She graduated from Nevada High School Class of 1947. After graduation she worked at the Nevada City Hospital and worked for Dr. Stanly Love. Throughout her life she was a housewife and also worked at Moore-Few Care Center from 1972-1993, and as a bondsman for 20 years. Maxine was a Pink Lady at Nevada City Hospital, a member of Ellis Domestic Science Club, a Vernon County 4-H Leader, and enjoyed having a flower garden.
Survivors include her daughter, Alice Halcomb, Nevada; a sister, Velma Bobbett, El Dorado Springs, MO; and several nieces and nephews. In addition to her husband, she was preceded in death by her parents; a daughter, Jacqueline Halcomb; four sisters, Lolla Scott, Jessie Buenning, Dorothy Fetters, and Mabel Leer; and a brother, Charles Scott, Jr.
Funeral services will be held at 10:30 a.m. on Tuesday, May 20, 2025, at Ferry Funeral Home in Nevada with Pastor Terry Mosher officiating. Interment will follow in Deerfield Cemetery, Deerfield, MO. The family will receive friends from 6-7:00 p.m. on Monday evening at the funeral home.
