Jack Holden Cherry, 91, passed away on Thursday, June 18, 2026, at The Manor at Elfindale in Springfield, MO. Jack was born on February 16, 1935 in Walker, MO, to Murl Thomas and Mildred Louise Cherry.
Jack was raised in Walker and graduated from the Walker High School Class of 1953. He worked for Hallmark Cards in Kansas City, MO for a time before moving to Nevada where he managed an APCO gas station in Hermitage. Eventually he found himself working for Manley Enterprises, managing an AMOCO/Standard truck stop in Springfield and an MFA oil station in Fair Grove for several years. His last and most favorite job was working for MFA Tire in Springfield where he retired after 30 years of dedication. Jack was a member of the Elkland Christian Church for over 40 years and rarely missed a Sunday.
He is survived by his children, Doug Cherry (Carla), South Kansas City, MO, David Cherry, Nevada, MO, Jaycie Crowley (Travis), Fair Grove, MO, and Cristy Grabher (Doug Newberry), Springfield, MO; numerous grandchildren and great-grandchildren; a sister, Kate Carroll (Jim), Bartlesville, OK; and several nieces and nephews. He was preceded in death by his parents; a daughter, Tawnya Davis; sister, Bid Conway; and his brother, Tom Cherry.
Graveside services will be held at 3:00p.m. on Friday, June 26, 2026 at Newton Burial Park in Nevada, MO, with Roger Beach officiating.
