James L. Capps, 81, Moundville, MO, passed away on Friday, January 24, 2025 at Medicalodges in Nevada. He was born on September 13, 1943 in Miami, Florida to Ralph and Iona (Taylor) Capps.
Jim attended high School at Bronaugh R-7 in Bronaugh, Missouri. Upon graduation, he enlisted in the U.S. Navy for a three-year term, duty stations included San Diego, Pensacola, and Midway Island. When his enlistment was completed, he attended college at Kansas State College in Pittsburg, Kansas earning a Bachelor of Science degree in Industrial Technology. He later completed course work for an Electrical Engineering degree from North Dakota State. He then worked for several major U.S. Corporations until retirement in 2001. After retirement he began a career in farming in western Vernon County where he was a firm believer in the old adage that “If it wasn’t for the Federal Government Subsidies there would probably be a law against farming in Vernon County”.
Survivors include two sisters, Sandra K. Odom (Tom) and family, Derby, KS, and Roberta Warren and family, Nevada, MO. He was preceded in death by his parents, and a sister, Connie Capps.
