James E. Monroe Jr.

James Edward Monroe Jr. passed away, Monday, March 3, 2025, in Nevada, MO at the age of 67.  He was born on August 5, 1957, in Des Moines, IA to James Edward Monroe Sr. and Delores (Travoto) Monroe.

     After high school, he married Debbie Cantrell in Las Vegas, NV, and together they raised their children. James had worked in the construction industry most of his life, until becoming disabled.  He was raised in the Catholic Faith.

     James leaves behind two sons, James Monroe III and his wife Spring, of Nevada, MO, and Taler Hillier, also of Nevada, MO; a daughter, Melanie Wait and her husband  Alma David Wait, of Belton, MO; one brother, Chris Monroe; and his grandchildren, Avian Monroe, Maicy Monroe, Liahm Monroe, Tyson Busey, Lennon Wait and Riannan Wait.  He was preceded in death by his parents, and a brother, Pat Monroe.
