Jerry Ray Peters, 77 of Nevada, was called home to rest on May 4, 2026, in Nevada, MO. Jerry was born on December 16, 1948, in Goodwell, OK to Robert Floyd and Gladys Aline ((Reynolds) Peters. On August 5, 1984, he married Elizabeth Mary Hannigan of Philadelphia, PA.
Jerry believed that “in order to live a full life, you must walk between the raindrops.” He also knew that “occasionally you get wet”. Jerry was known for his quick wit, humor, and often described as a character. He was also known for his iron will and would never give up on a challenge. Jerry had a profound love for animals and nature which he shared with his children and grandchildren, often discussing the endeavors of his pet ’Timberwolf’, a Maltese named Clancy. Jerry served in the United States Army in Vietnam from 1968-1971 as a scout for the Long-Range Reconnaissance Patrol attaining the rank of Sergeant. He spent the next 40 years transporting goods across the U. S. and was often found in his home wood shop working on a handcrafted gift for a family member.
Jerry was fortunate to have Elizabeth Hannigan, who provided years of devoted care and companionship.
Jerry is survived by his children, Charles (Chuck) Hows of Kremlin, OK, Lauren Holman and Jeremy Holman of Williston, ND, Nikki Peters and Garrett Unworth of Portland, OR, his grandchildren, Bryanna Smith, Jaxton Holman, Alex Haws, and Nevah Haws, and his sister, Gayle Peters of Oklahoma City, OK. Jerry is preceded in death by his parents, three brothers, Bob Peters, Joe Peters, and Bill Peters, and a nephew, Danny Peters, and ex-wives, Phillis Haws and Elizabeth (Betty) Hannigan. He will be eternally missed.
