John Campbell Obituary

     John Hastings Campbell, 91, Nevada, MO passed away on Thursday, November 12, 2020 at Moore-Few Care Center in Nevada. John was born December 26, 1928 in Moundville, MO to Howard J. and Gladys I. (Hall) Campbell.  He married Patsy Ann Whitworth on December 12, 1954 in Moundville and she preceded him in death on December 30, 2019.

     John was born and raised in Moundville. He graduated from Bronaugh High School Class of 1947. He served in the United States Army for two years from 1951-1952 serving in Korea during the Korean Conflict. Following his time in the service he worked at several local grocery stores in Nevada and Moundville including Ashbaugh’s in Moundville, Safeway, Karbe’s, Town & Country and retiring from Woods Grocery in Nevada. He has lived in Nevada for the past 65 years. His hobbies included fishing, woodworking, blackberry picking, pecan picking, playing with his grandchildren and great-grandchildren.

      John is survived by one son, Greg Campbell (Margie), Richards, MO; one daughter, Gina Whitlock (Rick), El Dorado Springs; grandchildren, Nicole Hodge (Chad), Nevada, Allison Terry (Cody), Nevada, Andrew Whitlock (Samantha), El Dorado Springs; three great-grandchildren, Adalina Hodge, Nevada, Kinslee Whitlock, El Dorado Springs, Asher Terry, Nevada; two sisters, Albert Hagenson, Nevada, and Patsy Bland, Nevada; numerous nieces, nephews, and extended family. In addition to his wife, Patsy of 65 years, he was preceded in death by his parents; two sisters, Trixie Daugherty, and Louise Landers; and three brothers, Gene Campbell, Cecil Campbell, and Baxter Campbell.

     Memorial services for John and Patsy Campbell will be held at 2:00 p.m. on Tuesday, November 17, 2020 at Ferry Funeral Home in Nevada with Pastor Roger Beach officiating. Committal will follow in Welborn Cemetery in Moundville. Friends may call now and until the hour of service at the funeral home.
