Joseph Galus, Jr.

     Joseph Galus, Jr., 88, of Nevada, MO, passed away on August 5, 2022, at Nevada Regional Medical Center in Nevada.   Joe was born in New Bedford, MA on January 27, 1934, to Joseph and Mary (Lis) Galus, Sr.  He married Dolly Mendes on July 22, 1967, in New Bedford, and she survives of the home.

     In 1979, Joe and his family moved from New Bedford to Nevada, MO.  He worked as a purchasing agent for B&D Trucking in Fort Scott, KS, Farm & Home Savings in Nevada, and the Nevada City Hospital.

     Joe enjoyed spending time with his family, especially his grandchildren., He loved being outdoors, whether he was hauling tree limbs and branches in the back of his pickup or chopping wood.  Joe always had a smile and a kind word for everyone, as well as a mint or piece of candy.

     In addition to his wife, Dolly, Joe is survived by his son Mark and his wife Sara, Kansas City, MO; grandchildren Henry and Margo; sister Jean; and several nieces and nephews.  He was preceded in death by his parents, Joe, Sr. and Mary; brothers Joseph and Henry; sisters Statia, Sophie and Rose; and daughter Michelle.

      Rosary will be said at Ferry Funeral Home on Tuesday, August 9, 2022, at 6:00 p.m., with visitation to follow from 6:30-8:00 p.m. Funeral Mass will be held at 10:00 a.m. on Wednesday, August 10, 2022 at St. Mary’s Catholic Church, Nevada, with Father Peter Savidge officiating.  Burial will follow at Mount Calvary Cemetery, Nevada.  A reception will follow at St. Mary’s parish hall.
