Joyce E. Palmer, age 89, passed away peacefully at her home in Nevada, Missouri, on Sunday, May 24, 2026. Joyce was born on March 9, 1937, in Benton Harbor, Michigan, to Russell E. and Catherine M. (Henry) Harmon.
Joyce was the beloved wife of William J. Palmer. She is survived by her sister, Janet Denning Starkey; her children, Beth Cano, Amber Nowak, and Jill Mason; and her grandchildren, Loren Cano, Catherine Nowak, Elizabeth Nowak, Michelle Nowak, Desmond Nowak, Vincent Bishop, Rachel Bishop, and Erica Mason. She is also survived by five great-grandchildren, along with several nieces and nephews.
In addition to her husband, William, Joyce was preceded in death by her parents; her daughter, Julie Stark; her grandson, Adam Sabala; and her brothers, Raymond Harmon and Ronnie Harmon.
Joyce was lovingly known as “Momo,” a name given to her by her grandchildren. She loved working crossword puzzles and reading romance novels, which we believe helped keep her sharp and witty throughout the years. Her laugh was contagious, and more often than not, she was laughing at one of her own jokes — something her family will always cherish.
Momo was strong, loving, and the steady rock of the family. She brought comfort, laughter, and joy to those around her and leaves behind a legacy of love that will not be forgotten. She will be deeply missed by all who knew and loved her.
No services are planned at this time, in accordance with her wishes.
