Kenneth Louis Horning of Nevada, MO passed away on Friday, October 4, 2024, at Freeman Hospital West in Joplin, MO at the age of 80. Kenneth was born on October 14, 1943, in Vernon County to John and Dolly Horning and lived in the Vernon and Cedar County areas all his life. On April 17, 1968, Kenneth was united in marriage to Norma Jean Hutchison, the love of his life. They shared 35 years of devoted love and marriage.
Kenneth grew up with a strong sense of duty and responsibility, values that carried him through life. He worked as a caregiver at Nevada State Hospital and as a custodian for the Nevada R-5 school district. He was known and respected as an exceptionally hard worker and believed in doing things the right way.
Kenneth was preceded in death by his parents and his beloved wife, Norma, whom he adored and missed dearly. He was a man of few words but endless devotion. Norma was the light of his life, his constant companion, and his greatest source of joy. Together, they built a life full of shared dreams, quiet moments, and deep affection. To anyone who knew them, their love was undeniable, a bond that could never diminish.
Kenneth’s impact on his family will be remembered, and he is survived by his son, Kenny Horning; his sister, Alma Stroer of Nevada; and his brother, Dwaine Horning of El Dorado Springs. Additionally, he leaves behind many cherished cousins, nieces, and nephews.
A service to celebrate Kenneth’s life will be held at 1:30 p.m. on Monday, October 14, 2024 at Ferry Funeral Home in Nevada, MO.
