Leonard “Paul” Pope, Jr., age 68 of rural Moundville, MO passed away peacefully on Monday, May 12, 2025 after a lengthy illness. Paul was born February 7, 1957 to Leonard and Bonnie (Peterson) Pope in Cherokee, Iowa.
Paul attended Nevada Schools. He was employed by 3M Nevada for 30 years until his retirement in 2019. In his spare time, he enjoyed hunting, fishing and cruising the country roads with his dogs, Katie and Buddy, then taking them to Ricketts for treats. Paul was a proud supporter of the Vernon County 4-H sports.
Paul is survived by a sister, Connie Newton of Nevada, and a brother, Rodney Pope of Nevada; as well as several nieces and nephews that lovingly called him “UP” Uncle Paul, and our Iowa family.
He was preceded in death by his parents, Leonard and Bonnie Pope; infant sisters, Linda and Becky; a brother-in-law, Albert B “Sonny” Newton; and an infant nephew, Jeffery Newton.
Memorial services will be held at 11:00 a.m. on Thursday, May 22, 2025 at Ferry Funeral Home in Nevada with Pastor Scotty Pritchett officiating. The family will receive friends from 10-11:00 a.m. prior to the service at the funeral home.
In lieu of flowers, memorials are suggested to Vernon County 4-H Shooting Sports or Mt. Pleasant Cemetery c/o Ferry Funeral Home.
