Linda Byerly

      Linda Sue Byerly, age 73, of Nevada, MO, passed away Friday, May 16, 2025, in Webb City, MO, after an illness.

     Linda was born April 6, 1952, in rural Lawrence County, MO, to James and Cora Hammond.  She was raised in Miller, MO and spent most of her young adult life in the Miller/Mt. Vernon area.  In 1973, Linda married David L. Byerly.  Soon after marriage, they began running a trucking company near Miller.  After the arrival of their only child, David M. Byerly, Linda chose to be a stay-at-home mother for the next few years and the family eventually settled in Joplin, MO. 

    In 1989, Linda and her husband decided to part ways.  So, from some advice from her older sister, Kay, and with her son by her side, she moved to Nevada, MO.  This was the town where she would live out the rest of her days.   Linda is probably best remembered by many from her time working at either U. S. Bank or the Nevada Housing Authority.  Her friends and family though, will remember her as a proud mother and grandmother.  Her grandson, David J. Byerly, was the greatest joy of her life.

     Linda leaves behind one son, David Byerly and his wife Hannah, Nevada, MO; a grandson, David Joseph Byerly, Nevada, MO; one brother, Joe Hammond, Carrollton, MO; nieces, Amy Hames, Jamie Johnson, and Amber Hames, and nephews, Keith Hames and James R. Hammond, Jr.  She was preceded in death by her parents; husband, David L. Byerly; her sister, Kay Johnson; and a brother, James R. Hammond, Sr..

       Memorial services will be held at 1:00 pm, Friday, May 23, 2025, at Ferry Funeral Home in Nevada, MO, with Pastor Terry Mosher officiating.
