Maurice "Bub" Lee Dahmer, Jr.

Maurice Lee (Bub) Dahmer Jr., 83, passed away peacefully at the Nevada Regional Medical Center on September 6th, 2023, after a brief illness. Bub was born on February 25th, 1940, to Maurice Lee Sr. and Eula Grace (Skinner) Dahmer in Nevada, Missouri. Bub grew up on their family farm, where they raised row crops and livestock. Bub had a passion for agriculture, which stuck with him for the duration of his life. Bub attended the Milo School and went on to graduate from Nevada High School in 1958. He married Marinda (Tin) Hankal on July 26, 1968. Together, Bub and Tin raised five kids in Nevada, Missouri. 

Following graduation, he returned to the family farm, where he worked alongside his father for several years. He then discovered he had a passion for carpentry, which led him to build many homes around the area. When the housing industry slowed, Bub decided to start a new venture into the trucking industry, which he continued until his retirement. No matter the occupation, one thing was always on full display—wherever Bub was, he was making friends along the way.

In addition to their five children, Bub and Tin had fifteen grandchildren and numerous great-grandchildren, all of which were among some of his proudest accomplishments. He enjoyed watching his grandchildren show livestock at the Vernon County Youth Fair and various other shows, watching them play sports across the state, and spending time with his family at various family functions. He also enjoyed visiting the Nevada Elks Lodge on Friday nights, where he would reconnect with long-time friends from around the community. Keeping true to his outgoing personality, this was often the highlight of his week. 

Bub was preceded in death by his wife, Marinda Dahmer; his parents, Maurice and Grace Dahmer; his sisters, Dianne Morris and Mary Sue Crawford; his infant brother, Lanny Lee Dahmer; and his son, Robert M. Dahmer. Bub is survived by his siblings, Kay Wells of Grove, Oklahoma; Chuck (Barbara) Dahmer of Nevada, Missouri; Pat (Ruth) Dahmer of Littleton, Colorado; and his children, Don (Donna) Dahmer of Nevada, Missouri; Tracy (Ronnie) Fancher of Sperry, Oklahoma; Cory (Amy) Dahmer of Nevada, Missouri; and Carrie Green of Nevada, Missouri, along with his grandchildren, great-grandchildren, and several nieces and nephews.

Please join us for a Celebration of Life at the Nevada Elks Lodge on Saturday, September 9th, 2023. The celebration will begin at five o’clock in the evening. 

In lieu of flowers, memorials are suggested to the Vernon County Youth Fair.
