Michael Shrimplin Obituary

     Michael Shrimplin, 64, Nevada, MO, passed away Friday, August 9, 2024, at Providence Medical Center, Kansas City, KS.    Mike was born on January 8, 1960, in Nevada, MO to Marion and Wanda (Harleman) Shrimplin.    He married Penny Hammontree on March 22,

1997, at the United Methodist Church in Nevada.  She survives of the home.

    Mike grew up in Nevada and graduated from Nevada High School in 1978. He worked for Lockwood Motor Supply for over 30 years in Ft. Scott before coming back to Nevada to open  Car-Quest Auto Parts along with his partner, the late Jerry Brendlinger, and it has continued to operate for the past 16 years.   Mike has been an avid bowler for over 40 years and has traveled across the country for many bowling tournaments.  He also competed in tournament fishing, enjoyed turkey and deer hunting, and loved to golf.  He attended dirt track races and was a proud sponsor of Morrow-Sheets Racing.   Mike was a longtime member of the BPO Elks #564.

     In addition to his wife, Penny, he is survived by three children, Christopher Shrimplin, Brandon Shrimplin, and Corey Clines; several grandchildren; his mother, Wanda Shrimplin, Nevada, MO; his sister, Sondra Ogle, Webb City, MO; father- and mother-in-law, Don & Marge Hammontree, Nevada, MO; brother-in-law, Joe Hammontree, Olathe, KS; and numerous nieces and nephews.  Mike was preceded in death by his father, Marion Shrimplin.

     The family will receive friends from 4:00-7:00p.m., Wednesday, August 14, 2024, at Ferry Funeral Home, Nevada.    The family suggests memorials to the Neal Center or the American Heart Association in care of Ferry Funeral Home.
