James Michael “Mike” Brown, age 82, formerly of Kansas City, passed away on October 26 at The University of Kansas Medical Center in Kansas City, Kansas.
Born on December 30, 1942, in Kansas City, Missouri, Mike was the only child of James W. Brown and Mary Brown (née Bell). He graduated from The University of Kansas with a degree in Journalism and went on to build a successful career in advertising, eventually founding his own firm. His entrepreneurial spirit also led him to establish a business in aerial photography.
Mike had a lifelong love of golf which he shared with his second wife the Honorable Kathleen Forsyth along with a zest for life.
Upon retirement, he embraced his passion for acting appearing in commercials, films, and numerous stage productions throughout the Kansas City metro, earning admiration and affection from the local theater community.
He is survived by his daughter, Michelle Brown; cousins Steven Dow and family; and retired Honorable Dennis Dow and family. He was preceded in death by his beloved wife, the Honorable Kathleen Forsyth.
The memorial service will be held on Saturday, November 8 at 1:00 a.m. at Ferry Funeral Home, located at 301 South Washington, Nevada, Missouri.
