Percy Leon Heitz

     Percy Leon Heitz, 88, Bronaugh, MO passed away on Thursday, November 24, 2022 at St. Lukes Hospital in Kansas City, MO following a brief illness. Percy was born October 8, 1934 in Bronaugh to Percy Alva and Blanche Opal (Seitz) Heitz. He married Dorothy Ellen Mayhugh on November 17, 1956 in Ft. Scott, KS and she preceded him in death on June 7, 2015.

     Percy was raised in Bronaugh and graduated from Bronaugh High School Class of 1952. Percy  lived his entire life in the house that he was born in which was built in 1881. He farmed and raised cattle his whole life. In his spare time, he enjoyed fishing.

     Survivors include four daughters, Sandra L. Heitz, Bronaugh, Tammie Keith (Austin), Columbia, MO, Deborah Wagener (Shaw), La Canada, CA, and Teresa Turner (Jeff), Louisburg, KS; four grandchildren, Sophie Wagener, Harrison Wagener, Lucas Turner, and Holly Turner; and several nieces and nephews. In addition to his wife Dorothy, he was preceded in death by his parents, and two brothers, Don Heitz and Joe Heitz.

     Funeral services will be held at 10:00 a.m. on Tuesday, November 29, 2022 at Ferry Funeral Home in Nevada. Interment will follow in Clarksburg Cemetery in Bourbon County, KS. The family will receive friends from 5-7:00 p.m. on Monday evening at the funeral home.

     Memorials are suggested in his name to the Vernon County Youth Fair, or the Clarksburg Cemetery Association c/o of Ferry Funeral Home.
