Rexford Donald Williams

        Rexford Donald Williams, 84, Nevada, MO, passed away on Saturday, September 9, 2023, at Mercy Hospital in Joplin, MO following a brief illness. Rex was born August 30, 1939, in Nevada to Marion J. and Wanda (Hackworth) Williams.

     Rex was raised in the Nevada and Walker area and graduated from Walker High School in 1957. He worked at several different jobs throughout his life including Safeway in Kansas City, was a seed salesman, farmed and raised cattle, horses, and pigs, as well as crops, was the manager of Vernon County Grain Supply, and then drove a truck until his retirement. Rex was a member of The Sheep Shed Church in Neosho, MO.

     Survivors include two children, a son, Eugene Williams (Rhonda), Alaska, and a daughter, Suzanne Reese (Johnnie), Nevada; four grandchildren, Patrick Williams, Christopher Williams, Johnnie E. Reese, and Madison Reese; six great grandchildren, Kinley, Graham, Callan, Leo, Joel, and Clara; two brothers, Larry Williams, Bates City, MO, Byron “Buzz” Williams (Gayla), Nevada; and several nieces and nephews. He was preceded in death by his parents, and a brother, Dennis Williams.

     Funeral services will be held at 1:00 p.m. on Saturday, September 16, 2023, at Ferry Funeral Home in Nevada. Interment will follow in Newton Burial Park in Nevada. The family will receive friends from 12-1:00 p.m. on Saturday prior to the service.
