Ronald Sons Obituary

     Ronald Wayne Sons, 83, Nevada, MO passed away on Saturday, November 19, 2022 at Freeman West Hospital in Joplin, MO following a lengthy illness. Wayne was born October 20, 1939 in Boswell, OK to Archie R. and Dorotha P. (Chandler) Sons. He married Dora Lynn Person on December 6, 1996 in Nevada and she survives of the home.

     Wayne was raised in Boswell, OK and attended school there. Following high school, he went to work in the oil fields in Bakersfield, CA and also in Texas for many years. Wayne also served in the United States Army for four years. He retired from the oil fields in Oklahoma in 2002. Upon his retirement he enjoyed fishing, hunting, and was an avid gardener – sharing his produce with anyone in need. Wayne enjoyed raising show goats, cattle, and American Quarter Horses. One of the most special enjoyments of his life was spending time with the family he loved.  

     In addition to his wife Dora, he is survived by five children: Mark Sons, Midland, TX, Kurt Sons, Midland, TX, Lance Sons (Myural), Katy, TX, Jessica Beggs, Kansas City, MO, and Peggy Nevels (Tony), Kansas City, MO; as well as several step-children that he helped raise; ten grandchildren, and two great-grandsons; five siblings, his brother Weldon Sons (Sandy), and sister, Alma Joy Mead (Winston), both of  Bakersfield, CA, brother, Bob Sons (Jewell), Boswell, OK, brother, Joe Sons (Vicki), Murray, KY, sister, Ola Mae Moore, brother, Ken Sons (Jan), and brother, Jarvis Sons (Tina), all of Boswell, OK. He was preceded in death by his parents, a brother, J.T. Sons, and one son, Kevin Sons.

     Funeral services will be held at 1:30 p.m. on Saturday, November 26, 2022 at Ferry Funeral Home in Nevada with Pastor Rick Austin officiating. Interment will follow in Moore Cemetery in Nevada. The family will receive friends from 5-7:00 p.m. on Friday evening at the funeral home.

     Memorials are suggested to St. Jude Children’s Hospital c/o Ferry Funeral Home in Nevada.
