Rosalie Handly

     Lillian “Rosalie” Handly, 88, Nevada, MO passed away on Monday, September 13, 2021 at Barone Alzheimer’s Care Center in Nevada following a brief illness. Rosalie was born September 21, 1932 to William L. and Opal E. (Towne) Moore.  She was united in marriage to Thom Handly, Jr. on April 18, 1952 in Nevada and he preceded her in death in 1996.

     Rosalie was raised in Schell City and attended high school in Metz graduating in 1950.  She worked at Nevada Medical Clinic, Nevada City Hospital, and operated Nevada License Bureau from 1976 – 1980.  Known for her cooking, Rosalie ran a catering service in Nevada for a time.  

     She is survived by three children, Max Handly, Nevada, MO, Lisa Stewart (Chris King), Independence, MO, and Bill Handly, Richards, MO; nine grandchildren, Toby Handly, Brad Handly, Ryan Handly, Silissa Swink, Joseph Lyons, John Pippin, Tallie Moscato, Taylor Handly, and Tanner Handly; 21 great-grandchildren; two great-great-grandchildren; her sister, Linda Pursley (Charlie), Nevada; a sister-in-law, Chris Moore, Germany; as well as numerous nieces and nephews.  In addition to her husband Thom, she was preceded in death by her parents, a son, Gayle Handly, one grandson, Brenton Handly; and a brother, Bill Moore.

     The family will receive friends from 9-10:30 a.m. on Monday, September 20, 2021 at Ferry Funeral Home in Nevada. Graveside services will follow with Pastor Roger Beach officiating in the National Cemetery in Ft. Scott, KS at 11:00 a.m.

            Memorials are suggested in her memory to the Vernon County Youth Fair c/o Ferry Funeral Home.
