Roxane Lorraine Chapman, 69 of Walker, passed away on Thursday, April 9, 2026 at the Moore-Few Care Center in Nevada. Roxane was born on February 17, 1957 in Kansas City, MO to James and Corla (Bauer) Houchin. On May 20, 1978 she was married to Billy Ray Chapman and he preceded her in death on November 8, 2025.
Roxane was raised in Kansas City and attended Northeast High School. She came to Vernon County in 1976. Roxane work for several different businesses in Nevada including Key Work Clothes, Heartland Hospital, and for over 20 years at Walmart until her retirement.
Roxane is survived by her six children, Tammy Miloncus (Joe), Illinois, Christy Bailey, Richards, MO, David Hazel, Walker, MO, Dana Diamond ( Steven), Okmulgee, OK, Travis Chapman, Joplin, and Joe Chapman (Janelle), Sheldon, MO, numerous grandchildren and great grandchildren, a sister, Dawn Odom of Montrose and a brother, Jim Houchin (Vickie), Nevada. Numerous nieces and nephews also survive.
She was preceded in death by her husband, Bill, a great grandaughter, Lily James, brother-in-law, Rex Odom, and son-in-law, Randy Bailey
The family will receive friends from 12-1:00 pm at Ferry Funeral Home in Nevada on Tuesday, April 14, 2026. A graveside service will follow in the Mt. Vernon Cemetery, Walker, MO at 1:30 p.m. with Dr. Jerod Lamb officiating.
