Sharon Joy Ross

       Sharon Joy Ross, age 84, of Nevada, MO, passed away, Sunday, October 17, 2021, at Nevada Regional Medical Center.

      Sharon was born June 21, 1937, in Nevada, MO to Edward and Betty Jo (Peters) Marquardt. Sharon attended Nevada High School..She pursued a career as a Registered Nurse and earned a master’s degree specializing in pysch nursing.  She worked several years at the Nevada State Hospital after moving back from California. Sharon had an extreme love for all animals from an early age.  She would take in stray animals and pay to have them spay or neutered and find homes for them.  She helped start People for Pets and worked with them for about 15 years.  She was extremely generous and would help the down and out any way she could.  She took care of her farm for over 30 years will all types of animals and loved when pre-schools or nursing homes would come visit.

      Sharon is survived by a daughter, Stephanie Ross and Partner Jeffry Gordon, Nevada, MO; one son, Cary Ross and wife Becky, Huntington Beach, CA; three grandchildren, Thomas Ross, Kristina Murietta & husband Joshua and Justine Ross; four great grandchildren, Jack Murietta, Reese Murietta, Kawena Ross and Kimaya Ross.

      Preceding her in death were her parents and one brother, Edward Marquardt Jr.

      A memorial service will be 2:00 p.m. Saturday, October 30, 2021, at Ferry Funeral Home.

      Memorials may be made to Vernon County Humane Society with the funeral home serving as custodian.
