Shelia Kay Meritt

     Shelia Kay Meritt, 72, Nevada, MO passed away on Friday, September 10, 2021, at Nevada Regional Hospital.  Shelia was born April 9, 1949, in Nevada to Orville Eugene and Dorothea Mae (Garwood) Meritt. She married Tom Addington on October 18, 1968, and to this union two children were born.

     Shelia was a high school graduate and attended the First Christian Church in Nevada. She worked at Ferry Funeral Home for 32 years before retiring.  Shelia also loved flowers and plants.  Shelia loved her family dearly, and said she was born to be a grandma.

     Survivors include two sons, Jeff Addington and his wife, Lisa, Springfield, MO, and Kevin Addington and his wife Jennifer, Ft. Scott, KS; three grandchildren, Jake Addington, St. Louis, MO, Gage Addington, Ft. Scott, KS, and Britni Addington, Ft. Scott, KS; mother, Dorothea Meritt, Nevada; one sister, Pam Ogle and her husband Steve, Nevada, MO; one nephew, Cole Ogle; one uncle, Lee Bowen, Nevada; many cousins as well as many special friends.  She was preceded in death by her father in 2005.

     Funeral services will be held at 1:00 p.m. on Thursday, September 16, 2021, at Ferry Funeral Home in Nevada with Pastor Bill Platt officiating. A private interment will follow in Moore Cemetery in Nevada.  Friends may call now and until the hour of service at the funeral home.
