Shirley Maxine Gaster

    Shirley Maxine Gaster, 96, Nevada, MO, passed away on Friday, August 11, 2023, at Nathan Richards Health Care in Nevada.  Shirley was born on September 12, 1926, in Blairsburg, IA, to Noel and Anna (Toma) Story.  She married Loyd Gaster in January 1946, and he preceded her in death on November 30, 1996.

    Shirley grew up on the family farm in Iowa. After high school she married Loyd and moved to South East Minnesota where she was busy being a full-time mom for her two sons, Mike and Bobbie.  She enjoyed the farm life and had a love for animals. She worked in food service at Wal Mart in Bentonville, AR for a number of years.  Shirley came to Nevada in 1998.  She attended Heritage Baptist Church in Nevada and Meadowside Church in Pittsburg, KS.  She always enjoyed visiting with her friends.

    Survivors include her oldest son, Mike Gaster (Suzan), Nevada; grandchildren, Paul Gaster, Chicago, IL and Christie Vereide, Mankato, MN; and several nieces and nephews.  In addition to her parents and her husband, Loyd, she was preceded in death by four brothers, George, Gerald, Ernest and Norval Story.

     Funeral services will be held at 2:00 p.m. on Wednesday, August 16, 2023, at Ferry Funeral Home, Nevada, with Pastor Aaron Polok officiating.  Interment will be held on Thursday, August 17,  in Graceland Cemetery, Webster City, IA. Friends may call now and until the time of service at the Funeral Home.
