Shirley Ann Hendrix

     Shirley Ann Hendrix, 83, Nevada, MO, went to be with the Lord on Thursday, November 17, 2022 at Mercy Hospital in Joplin, MO following a brief illness. Shirley was born November 16, 1939 in Nevada, MO to Buford C. and Velma M. (George) Garwood. She was united in marriage to Loyd Eugene Hendrix on April 29, 1961 in Nevada and he preceded her in death.

     Shirley was raised in Nevada and graduated from Nevada High School Class of 1957. She worked at 54 Café for 18 years, followed by 3M Nevada from 1984 thru 2002, retiring after 18 years. Shirley loved being with her family, especially her grandchildren, and fishing. She enjoyed push mowing her yard and the yards of other family members. Shirley was known by everyone to be a “giving person”.  While growing up she was a member of the Pine Street Baptist Church.

     Shirley is survived by her children, Janice Hendrix, Nevada, Susan Hendrix (Glen Ridley), Stockton, MO, Dana Williams (Jeff), Lamar, MO, and Gene Hendrix, (Melissa), Nevada; grandchildren, Doug Duncan, Kyla Hendrix, Cody Hendrix, Austin Stevens, Bryan Williams, Dusti Stevens, Mariah Williams, Madison Williams, Blayne Hendrix, Joseph Hendrix; numerous great-grandchildren, nieces, and nephews; brothers, Norman Garwood, Lamar, and George (Bill) Garwood (Lisa), Nevada. In addition to her husband, Loyd, she was preceded in death by her parents; brothers, Charles Garwood, and Lee Garwood; sister, Margie Lundien; grandson, Jared Badders, and granddaughter, Cori Hendrix.

     Graveside services will be held at 1:30 p.m. on Tuesday, November 22, 2022 at Moore Cemetery in Nevada with George (Bill) Garwood officiating. The family will receive friends from 5-7:00 p.m. on Monday evening at Ferry Funeral Home in Nevada. 

     Memorials are suggested in her memory to the American Diabetes Association c/o Ferry Funeral Home in Nevada.
