Shirley Ann Lewis, 87, Nevada, MO passed away and went to be with the Lord on Monday, March 25, 2024 at Mercy Hospital in Joplin, MO after a lengthy illness.
Born August 10th, 1936 in Osceola, MO she was the daughter of LeRoy and Lucille (Brown) Taylor.
Shirley graduated from Nevada High School. She was employed at the Nevada State Hospital for 33 years until her retirement.
She was a mother, grandmother and great grandmother who devoted all of her time and energy to guiding and advising her large family through life.
Shirley was previously married to Joseph (Bob) Simrell and Carl Lewis. Of these marriages she had five children. Survivors include Nyoka Simrell, and her companion Gary McQuay of Nevada, Orletta Simrell of Nevada, James Simrell, and his wife Michelle of El Dorado Springs, and Steven Lewis of Nevada; 11 grandchildren; 24 great grandchildren; 10 step great grandchildren; numerous nieces, nephews, and extended family.
Shirley was preceded in death by her daughter, Tonya Lewis; her parents, LeRoy and Lucille Taylor; and three sisters, Lela Bullard, Lenora Wallen, and Juanita Moberg; one nephew; and one great-great-grandchild.
A Celebration of Life is being scheduled for a later date.
