Virginia Rae Hornecker, 99, Nevada, MO, passed away on Wednesday, May 10, 2023 at Moore-Few Care Center in Nevada. Virginia was born October 26, 1923 in Rich Hill, MO to Carl W. and Una L. (Robinson) Robinson. She was united in marriage to Vernon L. Hornecker and he preceded her in death.
Virginia grew up in Rich Hill and graduated from Rich Hill High School. In 1953 she moved to Nevada where she worked at KEY Work Clothes for seven years, followed by Nelly Don for a time, and then working as a beautician for many years. Virginia was a longtime member of the Pine Street Baptist Church and had a strong “Love of the Lord”. She also loved being on the farm, gardening, and quilting.
Survivors include two daughters, Linda Sheeks, Clinton, MO, and Janet Stevenson, Moundville, MO; a stepson, Robert Hornecker, Arizona; six grandchildren, ten great-grandchildren, and five great-great-grandchildren; as well as several nieces and nephews. In addition to her husband, Vernon, she was preceded in death by three sisters, Dorothy Helmuth, Emily Pyle, and Carlene Osborn; and a twin brother, Roy Robinson.
Graveside services will be held at 1:30 p.m. on Tuesday, May 16, 2023 at Marvin Chapel Cemetery, (on the corner of S. 2100 Rd. and Rebel Rd.) in Nevada with Ray Dean Scism officiating.
Memorials are suggested in her name to the Ronald McDonald House or Good Shepherd Hospice c/o Ferry Funeral Home in Nevada.
