Walter Roy Headrick Jr.

     Walter Roy Headrick, Jr., passed way suddenly, Sunday, September 18, 2022, at the age of 62, at Mercy Hospital, Joplin, MO.

      Walter was born September 30, 1959, in Nevada, MO to Walter Roy Headrick Sr. and Elsie G. (Wagner) Headrick.  On December 18, 1999, he married Becky Collins in Richards, MO, where they attended the Christian Church, until it closed.  He was employed, driving a cement truck, and had retired from MODOT, where he worked with the road crew.  He had previously worked for the Vernon County Sheriff’s Department, and the Richards Volunteer Fire Department. Walter enjoyed hunting, fishing, and raising cattle, goats, and horses.

      Walter is survived by his wife of almost 23 years, Becky; his stepchildren, Melinda Tyer, Michael (Kimberly) Dickey, and Morgan Collins; two grandchildren, Jace Duncan and Bronson Dalton; five sisters, Mary Ann (Dale) Schmidt, Judy Headrick, Donna Downing, Diane Headrick, and Jeanette (John) Weber, along with many nieces, nephews and cousins.

      Preceding him in death were his parents and a daughter, Kerry Duncan.

      The funeral service will be 10:00 a.m. Thursday, September 22, 2022, at Ferry Funeral Home, with burial to follow in Richland Cemetery, Richards, MO

      The family will receive friends 6:00 to 7:00 p.m. Wednesday, at the funeral home.

       Memorials may be made to Vernon County Shooting Sport, with the funeral home serving as custodian.
